With just about two weeks left until Halloween do you have your son or daughters’ costume picked out? If you haven’t I’ve got some ideas for you! it can be really expensive to buy a super cool costume and then all the accessories, the wig, and the makeup so we’ve put together some ideas for turning your Lunchbox clothes into totally awesome costumes.

What you’ve got: Girls’ Western Plaid Dress

What it could be: She’ll be the coolest little cowgirl in town! All your little girl will need is some cute boots, a cowboy hat, a belt with a big buckle, and maybe a vest with some fringe. When you select a candy bag, go for one with a strip of fringe or add some yourself to help tie it into the theme.

What you’ve got: Boys’ Western Shirt in Brown

What it could be: Sheriff Awesome! A loose pair of jeans, a pair of rockin’ western boots, and a badge will give him all the authority he needs to be cool. Don’t forget a sheriff’s hat and ask dad if your little guy can borrow a piar of shades for an extra kick.

What you’ve got: Girls’ Fringe dress

What it could be: An old-time flapper girl. To make a cool flapper head-piece try a piece of sequined elastic fit snugly to the head with a feather glued on the inside. Add a long, layered strand of fake pearls, a pair of gloves and voila, a fun little flapper girl!

What you’ve got: Boys’ DJ Graphic Tee

What it could be: Let him be a little DJ. Pair the graphic tee with a cool and loose hoodie, a big pair of headphones, and spike up his hair just a bit so he can show his love of music.

What you’ve got: Girls’ Upper School striped leggings

What it could be: The Wicked Witch of the West! Pair the leggings with a black tutu, simple black top, a classic witch hat, and a green face. Don’t forget to have her practice her evil cackle because she’s going to look so convincing in this costume.

Have fun, be safe, and Happy Halloween!

So, I’ve noticed that fringe is kind of everywhere right now. I picked up a cute printed top while out shopping and there was fringe on the bottom, I was watching “Project Runway” and the rock star models ended up covered in fringe, and finally I was looking through shoplunchbox.com and realized just how many fringe options there are! It’s clear that everybody can find some love for the swingy trend. Even my sister, a self-proclaimed pants wearer, loves the fringe dresses.

Lunchbox’s fringe dresses are made with a super soft and breathable cotton blend, and the trim is of the highest quality. The variety of colors makes them a favorite amongst the Lunchbox models and I know Liz thinks they’re absolutely cute and fun. In fact, seeing how popular the fringe has been, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of it in the future!

I’m still looking for Lunchbox Fan Photos so if you want to be featured in the blog just snap a picture of your little cutie in their favorite Lunchbox outfits and send it in to me with your name, your child’s name and age, the city you live in, and a brief description of why you’re both fans of the piece. The pictures will be featured on the blog and posted on our Facebook. Please send your photos to me at gabbi1217@yahoo.com

Lunchbox Lovers Photos

17 Sep

A while back I asked for Lunchbox fan photos for this new segment and received some great shots from Amanda Onstott of Fort Worth. She told me her daughter Ava, 4, wore her Pretty Kitty Tunic on her first day of preschool this year. Amanda said that she loves Lunchbox because “everything is TOTALLY adorable, and still allows children to be children.” She loves that her daughter and son, Hollis, 2, “can play and move in Lunchbox clothes, all while looking super cute!”

Ava is pictured in her White Pretty Kitty Tunic. Hollis is pictures in his favorite White “Keep Truckin” Tee.

Off the shoulder sweatshirts used to be a big thing in the 80s and now they’re making a comback at Lunchbox. From navy to seafoam, girls now have the chance to rock the trend just like their moms did! The Lunchbox version is so light it can be layered over a tank top but also comfortable and soft enough to wear on a cool night. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things at Lunchbox because it is so versitile. I would love to pair it with a tank top and a pair of awesome Lunchbox leggings for a cool back to school look and then layer on a graphic hoodie for a chilly evening in the park. The 75% cotton blend sweatshirt is made locally in LA with a variety of graphic prints.

Also, I’d like to start a new segment and am in need of some input from all the little Lunchbox fans out there. Just snap a picture of your little cutie in their favorite Lunchbox outfits and send it into me with your name, your child’s name and age, the city you live in, and a brief description of why you’re both fans of the piece. The pictures will be featured on the blog and posted on our Facebook. Please send your photos to me at gabbi1217@yahoo.com

How your little fashionista can achieve the latest trends with some help from Lunchbox

Legging—I’m sure I don’t have to explain the phenomenon because leggings are seriously everywhere now a day. Even though it seems like the young twenty’s crowd enjoys them most, every fashionable little girl out there can rock some awesome leg wear too. Liz really embraces the leggings trend, making them in several different styles, cuts, and prints; and people are just eating them up. There’s an entire dresser dedicated to leggings here in the studio! I’ve heard that Lunchbox leggings are the most comfortable out there and I know they’re the coolest, I wish I could get a pair of the black liquid leggings for myself.

Outfit of the Week

20 Aug

Featured: Dream Catcher Tunic in white; Liquid Legging in silver

In this comfortable yet cute outfit, our model could have friends over for a play day or strut the halls at school. And she can wear it over and over because the shirt can be paired with different bottoms and the awesome liquid leggings could go with anything. I asked head designer, Liz Woodruff what she thinks about the pieces and why she thinks they’ve done so well.

“It’s a nice balance of trendy style and comfort. I’m really happy with the liquid leggings, people tend to buy them in more than one color because of the comfort and they just go with everything.”

What’s up Lunchbox!?

17 Aug

As an intern for Lunchbox I recently got the opportunity to sell their clothes at a sample sale. Since I’m not from LA, it was the first time I’d even seen a sample sale and let me tell you—it was crazy fun! There were so many people milling about the mart that it was a little overwhelming at first but once we set up and got going, it was great. We sold in the Scoop Showroom with Heidi Ngo, who is as nice as can be.

I found it interesting that groups of shoppers would come in waves; one second there’s twenty people, the next there’s none, and then there are a ton more. Then around noon it was almost deserted, except the few people who decided to take a late lunch and outsmart the crowd. After emptying a fair bit of the racks we said goodbye to Heidi and got to go enjoy the shopping and if it’s crazy to sell at the sale, it’s insane to shop it.

Over all, the sample sale was successful. I think people really liked that such chic clothes were so inexpensive (nothing was over $15) and there really did seem to be a style for everyone. I even saw a dad pick out a fringe dress for his daughter, explaining to her that it was “the coolest thing ever” way to go dad! If you’re in LA check out our sample sale at the mart this month on the 26th.

Street Fashion Finds

15 Aug

These fashion risk takers are doing something seriously right

Wandering the streets is always an adventure, full of interesting people and exciting fashion. Today I thought I’d explore the clothing choices of a young lady from out of town.

Name: Nikki Black

Age: 19

City: Defiance,Ohio

Tell me about your outfit

I’m wearing a simple button up shirt, blue skinny jeans, and my black boots; I always get lots of compliments when I wear them so they tend to be on my feet a lot. Then I threw on a fur vest and my fedora to set me apart from the rest.

What inspires you?

Mostly it’s people I see on the street, every time I walk around town it’s almost like a fashion show. I love being able to see another girl and say, “Oh I love her shoes” or “I like the way she put a belt around her waist”. Seeing different people’s own style always helps me think of ideas for my own wardrobe.

Describe your personal style

I’ve never been asked to describe my style, hmm. Maybe it’s something like a kid in a candy shop? I just love so many different kinds of styles and I find myself incorporating a lot of them into my outfits. I imagine that’s kind of what a kid in a candy shop would do, just grab everything you love and put it all together.

What’s your favorite thing to wear?

I love wearing accessories, but not so much in the sense of jewelry. Instead I like to personalize my outfits with hats; I love all different kinds of hats because they’re so flashy and unique. And like I’m sure every girl will tell you, I love shoes, currently I have something like twenty pairs of shoes.

How has your style evolved over the passed five years?

The last five years I’ve been in school so that really kinda limits what you can wear because high school has all these rules about what’s okay to wear and what’s not. So finally being out in the “real world” I’ve been able to branch out and really express myself in what I wear instead of always wearing what someone else believes is appropriate.

What do you think the most important thing about fashion is?

I think the most important thing about fashion is the ability to express yourself. I know there are many ways for people to express themselves but fashion is the only self expression that you get to wear. It’s one of the first things people see and it really gives you that chance for a great first impression and to be able to say, “Hello! This is me, this is what I love.”

Any fashion trends you absolutely hate?

I never really got into piercing. I only have my ears and bellybutton pierced; I wasn’t really into gauging my ears or piercing my face. I wouldn’t say I hate the trend, it looks really good on some people but it’s just not my thing.

Any you love?

Although I don’t wear it, I love Boho Chic. That amazing earthy look with all the long dresses and hemp jewelry is just beautiful but I’m a little too high maintenance for it unfortunately.
